My love of modern collectibles has led me to an exciting and eventful life in both collectibles and in the media. I have always strived to share my passion and learn as much as I could about collectibles and my craft in order to always be in a position to answer the many questions collectors ask of me. Feel free to contact me for whatever query you might have.
ABOUT GAZ
Hi it's Gary "Gazza" Ashburn and here is a brief synopsis (posh word) of myself. I have been a collector for most of my life. For 14 years, I was responsible for the hugely successful collectables division of magazines at Link House Publishing (A division of United Newspapers and now owned by IPC). I ran eight different titles covering areas like Stamps, Coins, Model One Cars, Sci-Fi. TV & Film Memorabilia, Model Railways, Formula, etc. I then departed to become Group Commercial Director of the Stanley Gibbons/Benham Group of Companies. Stanley Gibbons is the oldest and probably most famous name in the world of stamps. Here I was on the board and responsible for all marketing, promotions, advertising, readers offers, PR and press matters. Additionally, I oversaw the running of the UK's most prestigious and innovative exhibitions at the time, Collect "99/Collect 2000.
My charm and charisma (ha! ha!) saw me begin to appear regularly on QVC, as a guest on various collectables programmes. I then became head of collectables at Ideal World, where I would organise and present on screen 'live' approximately 30-40 hours of different collectables programmes each month. This seemed to spiral my media life and I would regularly appear on both terrestrial and satellite TV - everything from BBC1, SKY News to Good Food Live (discussing kitchen collectables) to Love2shop to collectors programmes, to VH1, the music channel, where I was the regular music anorak. With my old mate Lawrence Lambert, a fellow collector and actor (who even appeared in Eastenders), I co-presented two series for Granada/SKY TV - Automobilia and Bikemobilia. In early 2005, Gary was one of the partners in Authentic TV. This highly respected TV channel which specialised in collectables and Memorabilia, brought a breath of fresh air to the viewer. I have always adopted a very hands-on approach to everything and my mailbag was always full. I regularly receive dozens of communications per week from collectors and pride myself that I answer them all personally. So, whatever you collect or whatever you can afford to spend, Enjoy your collecting and if ever I can help, I would be delighted to hear from you... |
